Tyler Kay Matson

Dear journal,

I decided since this is a new book that I would introduce myself (just in case my other ones get lost).

I was born March 10th 1993. I will soon be turning 15. I am 5' 3" with golden hair and green eyes. I was born in Dayton, Ohio, in Miami (yes as in Florida)Valley Hospital.
I was born one month premature, and this is (as I am told by my gaurdian, Miss Cara), one of the reasons my father left me and my mother. You see, he thought I wouldn't live because I couldn't breath by myself, and also because I was a girl. And as we all know, girls are weak, whiny, useless creatures that aren't good for anything till they're older because they can't play football.
Every time I hear Miss Cara talk about him I have to smile. My dad didn't leave mom and I till I was 4. Everyone who actually knew him says that he loved girls, and mom said that he didn't even like football. (Miss Cara thinks any man who leaves his family is possesed by the devil, football, and has a macho ego the size of Russia.) But I can't disagree with her completely. I don't know much about Dad, but from what I do know, it sounds like he did have quite an ego and was a little cooky. He was a least superstitious. Mom used to joke about his rabbit's foot and how that contributed to his already not so pleasent smell he began to aquire towards the end of the marriage. And on Friday the 13th he would lock himself in the bathroom all day with a box of wheat thins at exactly 11:58 on the 12th. And he wouldn't come out till noon the next day just to make sure that he wouldn't overlap the bad luck of the previous day. Completely nutty in my opinion. But, like I said, I never knew him and don't know much about him so I can't make a very good judgement.

Well, after my dad left, Mom and I moved to New York where she met Steve. Ah Steve! what a guy! Steve was awesome. Family man through and through, always doing something to make sure life was interesting. Mom and he married in '98 when I was a five years old and I always thought of him as my dad. Steve was a 6'3" former lifegaurd with green eyes and dark blonde hair, just like me. A complete gentleman, the door opening, seat giving upping, please and thanking, knock on every door, none slang speaking, even tempered, arm giving type. And I was in love with him as much as Mom.
Steve was our night in shining armour. Thinking back now I wonder why, since we were so happy, I ever started being the little brat that I did. You see when I turned 6 is when Mom and Steve decided that I would go to Braxton Academy in England. I was never keen on the idea and never once thought that it might be because they wanted me to have better opportunities in life or because Steve frequently took trips to Europe and would be able to take mom and see me, no, I just decided they didn't love me and that I would be a pain. I had no idea that my constant bickering, silent treatments, lack of phone calls and letters would estrange me so much from the parents and family I loved so much. After two years of that Mom and Steve stopped the almost endless barage of plane tickets to come home for all the breaks and started just bringing me home for half the winter break "so I could have everything ready when school started." At least that's how I felt about it.
I was so snotty when my mom called to tell me she was having a baby I hung up on her!I had no idea how much I would regret the way I treated them!

Setup

I have wanted to write a book for a long time. And finally, thanks to one of my good friends who is always supportive of my ideas, I have decided to create a blog. This blog is going to track the adventures of five friends who have an exciting life.
Two teenage humans (Tyler Kay and Tyler Jason), their dragons(Caiden and Tigris), and their teacher (Professor Jackson).
Tyler Kay is a smart, pretty, 14 year old when the story begins. And she could be very likable, if only she would let go of the past and let herself love other people.
Tyler Jason is a charismatic, handsome, 14 year old jock, who, if he can let go of a little of his pride, just might be able to learn something from this quiet stony girl.
Caiden is T.K.'s devoted companion. A sleek, green dragon, Caiden is very blunt when speaking to anyone, but can always make a good point.
Tigris, very much like her master, is rather egotistical and fond of herself. A lovely shade of purple, she might just be able to learn something from this "extremely rude" duo. And maybe, find something to teach them.
And last but not least, Professor Jackson. A kind, yet gruff southern man, he's not quite sure what to do when he's given the assignment to teach four teens with very opposing personalities. And is not very enthused with the idea of attempting child raising once again.
What will happen to break the barriers these people have built for themselves? Will they ever learn to work with each other and help each other grow?
Perhaps this whole team, is doomed to fail.
